Design of clean rooms

Designing of clean rooms

Designing of clean rooms includes the stages of development of conceptual project agreed with the customer, qualification of the project together with designation of expert evaluation and drawing up of working documentation allowing to start construction works.

TECHNOLOGY PROJECT GROUP accepts orders for the design of clean rooms for laboratory and industrial purposes. Our clients are guaranteed the development of project documentation by specialists with extensive experience.

What are cleanrooms?

Such facilities are areas where it is necessary to achieve a harmonious balance of engineering design, subsequent production process, processing and product quality control. Fulfillment of the indicated requirements is a necessary condition for transforming a “regular” room into a “clean” one.

According to the classification according to the international GMP system, there are several classes of room cleanliness, in which an individual level of contamination and the presence of natural particles is allowed:

  • A – in these areas direct contact with existing air is possible. In such locations, processes such as sealing, filling, and other procedures prone to contamination are permitted. When designing class A cleanrooms, we take into account this group includes operating rooms, microbiological units, drug production lines;
  • B – places that differ slightly from the first level in the direction of improvement and a slight decrease in the degree of pollution;
  • C and D – laboratory rooms and areas for less critical work processes.

Creating a professional cleanroom design is especially important in areas such as the electronics, pharmaceuticals, and chemical industries.

Challenges when designing cleanrooms

The arrangement of any facility that operates according to GMP standards is impossible without the formation of such zones. What should be provided for and carefully planned by designers:

  • insulation of the entire territory of the facility and individual premises from external influences;
  • ensuring the protection of personnel from the negative influence of products of production, storage or laboratory research;
  • minimizing the likelihood of cross-contamination;
  • rapid removal from the working area of all kinds of contaminants arising during production;
  • the equipment must be located entirely indoors or in a special isolator;
  • ensuring continuous monitoring for readings of key parameters – degree of pollution, humidity level, air temperature.

Particular attention is paid to special requirements for the conditions of the technological environment.

Design of a clean room taking into account the characteristics of the facility

The specificity of such zones requires the presence of the following elements:

  • specially designed doors that are 100% tight when closed;
  • windows of non-expanding format;
  • durable and reliable frame for solid or glass walls and partitions;
  • high-quality air filtration and ventilation systems;
  • floors made of antistatic materials;
  • transfer and airlocks for the movement of equipment and products, movement of personnel;
  • modular control units for engineering communications.

Design of clean rooms includes the stages of developing a conceptual design agreed with the customer, qualifying the project together with the designation of expert assessment and drawing up working documentation that allows construction work to begin.
